Good benefits make a company harder to leave.

Most benefit plans fail in two ways. The service stops once enrollment ends, and the cost climbs every year with nobody watching it. Dunn Benefits Group takes on both.

The problem

What usually goes wrong

  • Nobody explains the benefits.

A company pays for coverage. Employees never learn how it works, so they don't use it and they don't value it.

  • The broker disappears.

They show up for the sale, run enrollment, then stop returning calls. Claim questions land on HR's desk instead.

  • Costs climb and nobody checks.

Renewal comes around and the number goes up. No review, no comparison, no explanation. Just a new invoice.

Most brokers sell the same plans, from the same carriers, at close to the same price. What actually changes is what happens after the papers are signed.

Coverage

What Dunn Benefits places

Group health and voluntary benefits — plus the work of setting them up and keeping them running.

  • Group major medical

Health plans for the whole team, shopped across national and regional carriers including Blue Cross Blue Shield.

  • Dental and vision

Preventive, basic, and major dental. Vision through the VSP network — exams, lenses, frames, and contacts.

  • Accident

Cash benefits for covered injuries. Helps with the emergency room, urgent care, ambulance, and hospital bills.

  • Critical illness

A lump sum paid on diagnosis of a covered illness such as heart attack, stroke, or cancer. Spend it on anything.

  • Hospital indemnity

Pays a set benefit for a covered hospital stay, on top of whatever the health plan already pays.

  • Disability

Short-term and long-term income protection while someone is out of work and recovering.

  • Life

Term and whole life. Protects a spouse, children, a mortgage, and future income.

  • One-on-one employee education

Every employee gets a walkthrough in plain English. Coverage nobody understands is coverage nobody uses.

  • Payroll and pre-tax setup

Deductions are set up with the payroll system already in place, pre-tax where it applies.

Product availability, benefit amounts, exclusions, and limitations vary by carrier, policy form, state, and employer selection.

The founder

The person answering the phone

Tyler Dunn spent his career in the United States Army and retired a combat veteran.

The Army teaches a few things that carry over. Do the work before it is due. Tell people the truth, especially when the news is bad. Never leave a job half finished and call it done.

Dunn Benefits Group was built on that. Tyler runs it himself and takes the calls himself. A company that signs on gets him — not a service center, not an account rep who changes every eighteen months.

Real stakes

Why any of this matters

A boy fell playing outside and broke his arm. Emergency room, X-rays, a cast, a follow-up visit.

His parent worked for one of the companies Dunn Benefits Group serves. The accident policy paid out, and the family got a check instead of a bill.

That is what the coverage is for. Not a line item in a budget. A bad afternoon that doesn't turn into a bad year.

We already work with another broker.

That's common, and on its own it isn't a reason to switch. The better question is what that relationship looks like in month seven. A review costs nothing and makes the comparison easy to see.

It's too expensive.

Cost is the right thing to ask about. Options get built per company, at a range of price points, and nothing is recommended that doesn't earn its place. Most clients find meaningful savings once the current plan gets a real review.

Do you handle our health insurance, or just the extras?

Both. Dunn Benefits Group places group major medical through national and regional carriers, and the voluntary products that sit alongside it — accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, disability, life, dental, and vision.

The voluntary products pay cash benefits on top of a health plan. They are not a replacement for one.

Who pays for the coverage?

It depends how the plan is built. Employers can contribute, and often do on the medical side. Voluntary benefits are usually paid by the employees who choose them, taken straight out of payroll, pre-tax where it applies — which lowers taxable income for everyone. The numbers get shown before anything is signed.

How long does it take?

Most groups go from decision to coverage start in {{ENROLLMENT_TIMELINE}}. Dunn Benefits Group runs the paperwork, the carrier coordination, and the payroll setup. The work left for the employer is small.

Do we have to change payroll providers?

No. Deductions get set up inside the payroll system already in use. {{PAYROLL_SYSTEMS}}

Our company is small. Do we qualify?

Probably. Dunn Benefits Group works with employers from a couple of people up to a few hundred, and more than 150 groups across Alabama, Georgia, and Florida work with the firm today. A short call is enough to find out.

We're not interested.

Fair enough. The consultation is free and there's no obligation attached to it. Fifteen minutes is enough to see a draft of what's possible. If it isn't better than what's already in place, that's a useful answer too.
